Navigating Change Leader's Guide   [ order guide ]

The book Navigating Your Change Mazes is ideal for group studies. It is organized to help both individual readers and groups gain insights into their own change encounters by presenting critical principles and using real-life examples. The PonderPoints at the end of each chapter encourage participants to stop, reflect, and dig into their own change issues.

The Leader's Guide is designed to help the leader facilitate learning by engaging the participants in productive discussions and group activities that facilitate lively exchanges about relevant encounters with change mazes and principles that work.

The guide is based on Tom's three keys to successful group studies.

  1. Preparation: Participants are encouraged to study the assigned chapter(s) before coming to each session.
  2. Purpose: Using the PonderPoints as a foundation for the discussion and sticking to the concepts and Scriptures in the assignment help to avoid straying from the topic at hand.
  3. Prayer: Calling on the Lord's guidance and involvement through prayer is a necessary ingredient to learning what He has in store for the participants.

The Leader's Guide is a booklet that provides the leader with succinct tips and helps for facilitating each session. It suggests a schedule and outline (with commentary) for the entire study and follows with a session-by-session guide that includes:

  1. Session Topic and objectives
  2. Discussion points and foundational Scripture references
  3. Challenges and questions that expand on the PonderPoints
  4. Summary of anticipated conclusions and suggested actions
  5. Homework assignments including a daily devotional guide

A companion CD is also available containing PowerPoint slides of:

  1. Handouts to supplement the key points in the book
  2. Computer presentations with graphics and concepts to guide the discussion for each session

Navigating Change
Self-Assessment
   [ order guide ]

Two critical components of the way you deal with change are your personal Change Capacity and Change Reaction. These qualities, along with several other factors, are keys to navigating through change mazes.

Unfortunately when you encounter sudden change, especially if it is complex, you tend to focus on the change itself and neglect your own capacity for change. And yet, if you understood more about yourself in change maze situations, you could navigate better.

This tool presents a battery of questions that can be answered in 15-30 minutes. They examine your Change Capacity, Change Reaction, Risk Aversion, and other key factors. It even addresses situational conditions that vary based on age, environment, and relationships.

After you've answered some introspective questions, the Self-Assessment leads you through a scoring process and points you towards helpful interpretations of where you might fit on scales like these.

It is important to note that this, like all self-assessments, is intended to provide insight and added understanding of yourself and how you respond when facing change. It does NOT deliver clinical answers or direction. It is neither analytical nor specific in its conclusions. But it is one more navigation tool to help you when you encounter a change maze.
