About the Author
Tom Lutz is old—but only in terms of years since his birth. His ticker skips beats from atrial fibrillation (AFIB)—but his heart is that of a young man seeking new ideas and thinking outside the box. Tom’s knees ache—but he’ll stand to teach others all day long about how to live and learn and thrive.
Life-long learner
Tom has had numerous and varied experiences – many successes and several failures. Even though his formal education is well recognized (mathematics and operations research), he is an experiential learner most of all. He really has had five careers; scientist, business leader, university professor, executive consultant, and now author. Through all of them, he keeps on learning and leading.
Doer, teacher, and author
He thrives on getting results and developing other people in the process. Tom uses his experiences to build and transfer new ideas to others to help them grow and succeed. The books he writes are in response to demand for him to write it down.Speaker and story teller
Early in his career, it was recognized that Tom could deliver effective presentations to tough audiences that demanded meat instead of fluff. His speaking engagements and videos have been in demand around the world because he confronted real issues that people desperately wanted to address. His platform approach was simple. Engage the audience with personal real-life stories. “ Let me tell you about what happened to me at work yesterday,” or “at home with my lovely wife and three full-of-life kids,” or “at church when I encountered a kernel from God’s Word that hit me in the heart and between the eyes,” or even “when our middle son took his own life.”
Husband, dad, and grandpa
Tom and Cheke, his wife of 50+ years, are the parents of three children, Tom Jr., Tim (who is no longer living), and Heather Jean. The Christ-centered families of the two living children and their spouses have blessed them with nine grandchildren. Mixed with the joys of this fun, exciting, joy filled family is grieving as well. Thankfully God has guided Tom and Cheke through the experience of losing a son. They often point to the ancient Biblical character, Job, who said, “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Now, in his refired years, he’s writing about his many experiences. His first book, Navigating Your Change Mazes, applies many of his encounters with changes in life. His latest books tell stories—just like he so deftly delivers from the podium as a speaker and story teller. And his website, Lutzgroup.com, is designed to help readers to read between the lines and think new thoughts. And maybe some of those new thoughts will help readers be transformed themselves.
P.S. Tom’s wife and clients and audiences don’t think he’s old!
